Read about El Chalan a few months ago (see link below) and tried it tonight.
Very enjoyable Peruvian rotisserie chicken (which they seem to specialize in), ever so slightly dry in and around the breast (it was somewhat moist elsewhere), but nicely remedied by a great aji sauce, tangy, eggy in an aioli-like manner, with a very nice pinprick of heat that sneaks up on the palate at the end. Reasonable prices (~$6 for half a chicken with fries and salad.)
The made from seemingly commercial frozen fries are actually awesome -- super crisp and light, gently soft on the inside. Perfect with the aji sauce.
Also comes with a salad (iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumber).
They were out of chicha morada, the Peruvian purple corn drink, but I got my purple corn fix with the mazamorra morada dessert, a refreshing chilled cornstarchy purple corn pudding with pieces of stewed fruit. ($2.65 I believe).
All in all a nice meal.
