Pleasant Cafe - -pleasant surprise

Visited the Pleasant Cafe in Roslindale for the second time. Pizza is outstanding: thin crust, flavorful sauce, very fresh cheese and toppings. Didn't get to try the homemade sausage, but will next time for sure. Fried seafood the biggest surprise...$10.50 for a whole belly clam plate with MORE CLAMS THAN I COULD FINISH. Same for the fisherman's platter, including sweet scallops, shrimp and haddock. All were light, crisp and delicious, as were the onion rings and fries we devoured and washed down with Buzzard's Bay beer. Seems they freshly batter themselves. My husband got the swordfish kebobs (Also $10.50). NIcely seasoned and very juicy. Side dishes are completely unremarkable, except for coleslaw, which was the finely grated variety that I enjoy tremendously. Service is swift and very competent, delivered by waitstaff that appear to have been there for a number of years. Very family friendly, brought bread immediately when they saw I had a *very* hungry, unruly child, although no children's menu perse.
Overall, great neighborhood spot, priced right.

Next time, we test the italian meals.
