Last night we had our Jackson Heights farewell dinner, at Plaza Garibaldi, Roosevelt and 87th. (88th?) (Actually we're not leaving the nabe until tomorrow; but tonight we're tired, not up for a big to-do farewell dinner.)
I had heard this place was good a long while back, had an unexciting meal and sort of wrote it off -- am I glad I went back there! One dish, Camarones al Mojo de Ajo, was totally mind-blowing; and everything else was quite tasty. Plus, the best marguerita I've had in a long time. (Not actually saying that much, since I don't drink them very often; but I think if I did, it would still stand up...) Sangria however was nothing special.
Anyway, I'll recommend this place to those hounds among you who are still around here; and hopefully I'll get back before too long for another meal. Off to explore the wilds of Essex County, NJ!
