Plastic melted on my All-Clad pan. How to remove it?

taos | Feb 5, 201107:48 AM     6

I left a plastic spatula on the edge of my stainless steel All-Clad frying pan. The plastic melted and hardened on the edge of the pan and I can't get it off. This is what I have tried:
1. prying it off with my hands
2. prying it off with a butter knife
3. heating the pan on the stove to soften it
4. turning the pan upside down and sticking the melted part directly in the stove flame

It's still there and now the edge of the pan is scratched and gouged from where I took the knife to it.

What else can I do?
