Help me plan an Indian dinner!

I have friends who say they don't like Indian food because it is too spicy. It kills me when people say that because a) not all Indian food is spicy and b) Indian food is so varied, complex and rich in history--how can you write off the cuisine of an entire subcontinent?

Anyways, I attribute this dislike to lack of experience. They are Spanish and therefore, have not had a lot exposure to spices and heat. Plus, Indian food in Spain is a new thing so there are not a lot of opportunities to try eat good quality Indian food.

I'd like to plan an Indian inspired dinner to ease them into the food and to show how diverse and delicious Indian food can be. I don't care if dishes are not 100% authentic Indian. Things that are Indian-inspire will do too. Dishes should be geared towards introducing curious but spice-cautious eaters to the wonderful world of Indian/Pakistani cuisine!

Here's what I have thought of so far. Let me hear your ideas!

For about 4-6 people:

Chicken or Lamb Tandoori? Or Lamb Stew?

Sag Paneer?

Perfumed Basmati Rice

Raita with cucumber and cumin

Shredded Carrot Salad with Lemon Juice and Poppy seeds

Indian desserts?
