Best place to eat and work? Holywood, Los Feliz, Silverlake and...?

Recent Arrival | May 2, 200508:50 PM

Dear Chowhounders,

I have a question avec 2 parts (which hopefully may be answered in one response):

If you were a waiter, where would you look for work in the Hollywood, Los Feliz, Silverlake areas (a bit further out is OK, too--maybe as far as South Glendale to the NE and The Grove to the SW)? That is, what places appeal to you environment-wise, and in which the employees seem happy, not miserable?

As a waiter, I cannot eat in a restaurant/establishment without the food being well-prepared, though my palate varies far. As an example, for me, the Cheesecake Factory might be a good place to work, with it's high turnover and crowds, but I would be miserable eating my employee meals there, thus making it not a possibility.

As you might imagine, I'm new to L.A. and looking for a job--but this post could also be taken as a poll to vote for great restaurants that provide best for the welfare of their staff as well. Thank you, thank you.
