Calling all Manchester 'hounds to the rescue. I need to find a lovely place in a nice setting to host an afternoon tea party in Manchester for 20-25 people for my mother's 80th birthday. I've done a google search and there are very few places that seem to have exactly what I have in mind. The Crowne Plaza - Midland is a possibility but I'd prefer a more initimate/informal setting rather than a hotel. Ideally, the food should be scrumptious and the scones fresh and delicious. As a kid growing up in M/cr I remember there were some lovely places, however, like everything else they seem to have disappeared. Are there any other places that you'd recommend that would fit the bill? If anyone has been to afternoon tea at the Crowne Plaza how did you like it? Are there other hotels that have a really nice afternoon tea? I appreciate all your comments and suggestions. TIA!
