Pizzaiolo Query

Oakland Barb | Jan 5, 2006 12:22 AM

We ate at Pizzaiolo for the first time in many months, tonight. I have found the food to be good, but the service and wait has put me off and we find we can eat for the same price at Oliveto and prefer it.
Given the wonderful reputation on this board, tonight was the night for another chance.
Although there were at least ten parties ahead of us on the list this evening, we were told the wait would be ten to fifteen minutes. We were fortunate to find a place at the bar right away and avoided the wait which turned out to be over an hour.
There were issues I had with the food, although generally, it was good. My problem was with the music. It was amazingly loud. There was a James Brown/Wilson Pickett/Otis Redding mix playing. I like this BUT the auditory level was loud! One of the cooks kept turning down the music and the waiters would turn it up again. I've never know Luka's to have music this loud, even later in the evening (well, as late as I'm there).
I'm sure this isn't an issue for clubs, but it made conversation difficult. I would hesitate to return.
Has anyone else had this problem?
