Pizza Hut pan pizza crust

Not that I'm such a big fan of Pizza Hut, but I was wondering how they get that pan pizza crust bottom to be that light and oily-crusty way, like one of McDonald's breakfast hash browns. When I tried frying dough, it's like dense dough dipped in oil. Is it something to do with the dough or do you need to use lots of oil? What's the secret?
