So far, we haven't found a place as good as Nino's in Bay Ridge, but we're trying. I have to admit that it hurts having an electric oven, even with a tile pre-heated (we have an 18' tile permanently in our oven, transported from 2 other gas ovens we've had at other places; I miss my gas ovens, but I need patience)
What I have so far based on past visits (regarding crust):
Pizza Star: $3.50 : great in the store; loved the crust, not the toppings;
dough: okay on the stone; better on the grill heated on both sides, smooshed between grillings, but not so good in the oven (rose way too much)
Old World: $3.50: 90% of the time, a great crust; haven't taken home yet as dough
Sotto's: $2: I love this pizza, but haven't been back since we moved (I kissed the hand of the maker once because it's so good). Perfect crust in the store (chewy but firm); haven't taken home yet
Conte's: great in store (crispy); no clue whether they'd sell it to you or not
Trader Joe's: just opened, but unlikely to try, as we have have places in town
Wegman's & McCaffrey's: do they sell dough?
