Pizza delivery charges...where do you stand? I sent my favorite Sherman Oaks pizza delivery store packing tonight after realizing that all along they have been charging me to deliver. I live, by mapquest calculations, 1.83 miles from their store and it is a straight shot down Ventura. Tonight's purchase was $24 which I put on my debit card and gave the guy a 4 dollar tip. But wait, what is this. The receipt says +3 for a total of $27. Called to complain. They know who I am because I have been ordering for over 8 years... I pointed out that even on their website, delivery to my zip code should only be $2. Bottom line, after a long and mutually successful relationship, I won't be ordering anymore. The owner says that they have charged it all along. I countered that you don't promote that fact very well. He answered, look you have a lot of choices, you should do what makes you comfortable. So, barring identification of another pizza place in Sherman Oaks I can tolerate, I will be driving to VITO's in Hollywood when the urge hits.
So, where do you stand? Are pizza delivery charges common? Do you pay them? All comments, even snarky ones are welcome. I really want to know what you think!
