Pio Pio Rico in Sunnyside, plus two other Queens meals

Last weekend:

1) Not one, not two, but three seemingly human hairs showed up in my half-chicken order at new peruvian chicken joint, Pio Pio Rico...

other than that, the food tasted fine, but there was a general sense they don't have their act together, confirmed by the hairs. Ugh.

2) My wife and I ate at Manducati's in LIC for the first time in probably 3 years. Service was better, my lasagna was decent, prosciutto and persimmon appetizer special was nice though the prosciutto could have been shaved a bit thinner. My wife scored with some sort of fresh carrot linguini special. All in all better than I remembered it though the food can't live up to the wine list, which is pretty extraordinary.

3) Tournesol is inventive, friendly, a treat every damn time. We've taken to eating there early, on the way home from work, and I know it fills up as we're leaving, but I still think it's some sort of scam on our part that we can get in there without calling in advance. It was a pleasure, as ever, on friday night. I had the rabbit special; I should have ordered the veal instead, the rabbit bones were kinda freaking me out. I'll eat the somewhat ethically questionable meat, but the tiny bones, that's too much. But everything else was great, especially my wife's arugula salad with these seared mushrooms (they looked kinda like portobellos, but tasted better. A bright vinaigrette, cut by some shards of an aged parmesan, damn it was good.
