Pinot Hollywood - just awful - long

Just wanted to let people know, my husband, and myself had a terrible meal tonight at Pinot Hollywood. We weren't expecting much, just wanted a quick meal before we saw a movie at the Mann Chinese.

I started with the endive salad, crumbled Roquefort, pears, and candied pistachios, and my husband had a kobe style beef ravioli with wild mushrooms. Though I am not quite sure how you mess up a salad, the pistachios were quite weird, the pear was tasteless, and the salad was dressed but not tossed well because there were clumps of dressing at one point, and then none at others. It seemed as though the chef was trying to go for some kind of braised oxtail style with the ravioli, but he did not pull it off.

For entrees I had duck with salsify and duck confit. There was a large piece of fat below the duck mixed in with the salsify, The sauce, which was an attempt for a rich hoisin with orange, tasted like bottled bbq sauce, and the duck was dry and overcooked. My other half had the sea bass special, which was also dry and over salted. We were going to get dessert, but by that time I just wanted to end the meal, and opted for red vines and popcorn at the movie. Both were better than anything we had at the restaurant.
