Pie storage & handling

My son and fiance have forgone wedding cake in favor of wedding pie, lovingly baked and brought by the wedding guests.I would like to contribute, but will need to bake Wednesday for a Saturday wedding. We will be driving to the location on Thursday and staying in a hotel with no refrigeration available. I'm thinking a pecan pie or fig & walnut tart might hold.

Any thoughts?

If I use a plastic clam shell container for each pie or a sealing wrap once each pie is cool will the pies stay fairly fresh? Would it be better to make the pies on Tuesday and freeze them?

I'm an experienced home baker and I believe a good homemade pie three days out will certainly lose something, but if handled properly, will still beat store bought.

Also: Can I bring home baked goods over the border from the US to Canada?
