are pickled pigs feet just another southern anomaly?

or are they eaten in other places? I've heard people refer to them as "trotters" which always gives me a chuckle and in the south you'll find them in bars and some grocery stores. I've never tried them as they remind me too much of the jars in biology lab. Am I missing out?
