Pho 54 and New Hwong Kok Inc, Milpitas report

Arlene | Jun 24, 200412:39 AM

went to Pho 54 for lunch today with a friend. We both liked it. Small bowl of pho is $4.75 and good if you're not very hungry. I got #10-rare beef w/ beef brisket. Tasty soup, good tastying beef, and the sprouts, herbs, peppers, lime plate on the side.
Didn't try friend's dish but she got a pho and liked it. Recommended.

Then walked to V.K. Food #3 for soy bean pudding (dofu fa) $2.00 for large which feeds 3 adults. Small is $1.25. Still yummy and fresh. It's behind the counter so need to ask for it. Many tofu dishes on the steamed food side-still haven't tried, and don't forget their fresh soy bean milk.

New Hwong Kok Inc, Milpitas is new. It's between China First and QCup, across from Lions Market.

They have good dim sum, take-out counter, and places to sit to eat.
Favorites: turnip cakes (3 for $1.30), tofu-stuffed pork on the steam table (1 order comes w/ 2 pieces-$1.30). Wanted the coconut-peanut mochi but they were sold out!
lots of steamed dumplings, buns, have egg custard tarts $.50 each, porridge & noodles, even have frozen buns. They have a dim sum lunch $4.25 w/ preserved egg & pork porridge (or other porridge) and dumplings. Or you can get combination meal (served w/ rice or noodle & soup) 2 items $3.50, or 3 items $4.50

Friend goes there a lot when she doesn't want to cook.

Anyone tried any of these places?
