To offer somewhat of a counterpoint to the NY mag review of Perry Street, I called last Thursday for a table for two that evening and got an 8:30 table. Showed up with a third person and waiting about 1/2 hour for a corner table where an extra chair could be added. The all-female host staff were some of the most solicitous I have encountered (this was welcomed after walking in to a phalanx of 4 of them at the front door). And, we saw JG, Charlie Rose and Richard Meier.
As for the food, I had the sashimi, rabbit and fruit with sabayon and pistash ice cream. (Warning: if you don't like a lot of alcohol in your desserts, don't get the sabayon--it's loaded with marsala.) All were very good except for the marsala. One of my friends got the lamb chops and they were about $1 a bite, as opposed to the $8/bite reference in the review. They were fairly big as far as chops go in this city.
