perfect place for V-Day dinner (for a reformed veggie)

I am bringing my boyfriend to DC for Valentine's Day, for the weekend, and we're staying east of Dupont Circle on 16th St. Does anybody have any suggestions for dinner for Val's night, either near there, or somewhere close to a Metro stop? I've heard of the Obelisk, but I know the menu changes every night and it's according to the whim of the chef, and so I'm scared I won't find something I like. I was a vegetarian for most of my life, and now I eat a little meat sometimes, no fish, but I am just very picky when it comes to meat, it has to be something very simple and well made. I would really rather have vegetarian choices, does Obelisk usually have some good ones? I am just scared to commit to it, even though I hear it's fab, because it's not only Val's Day, it's also our one year anniversary, so I want everything to be perfect. Also, any recollection of price at the Obelisk? I know it's price fixe, but what is it "fixe" AT? Any thoughts? Thanks so much.
