A PERFECT dinner at the original Roy's for my hubby's BD this week...Their bartender's own menu drink, a Leo-licious (a cosmopolitan with a hint of champagne as well as lilikoi liqueur (sp?); devastation red wine; roy's chardonnay; a birthday dessert of flourless chocolate cake (not the originally Roy's but now ubiquitous molten souffle cake); a first course of perfectly cooked U-10 scallops with crisped pancetta, sweet potato puree, savory bread pudding, and two incredible sauces that I have no idea how they made; another first course of a trio of local salads: Ho Farms tomatoes with local goat cheese and greens, iceberg mini-wedge with string crisped onions, crisped proscuitto bacon, and blue cheese dressing, and Dean Okamoto's Waimanalo Farms salad mix with a great vinaigrette; Filet Mignon cooked perfectly all the way through on both sides medium rare with Madagascar sauce, local beets, truffled mashed potatoes, and thin asparagus stalks; Surf and Turf of grilled fresh caught salmon, salt crusted shrimp sticks, and Szechuan baby back ribs, with sauces.
The service rocked, the timing was perfect to get the view to Maunalua Bay at dusk, and the bartender was a fountain of great info on what to order. A meal worth paying for in real dollars. A fun time had by both of us, and enough leftovers that my kid had a great meal and not FF for his dinner. He loved it, too. I'm raising little foodie here. :-)
