When the "Me Generation" was in high school a popular lunch was a bag of Fritos opened along the side and covered with chili and cheese. In my area they were called, "Pepper Bellies" but sometimes I hear the name "Frito pie." I recall they were served at Little League games. This little snack / meal got so popular that Fritos began making the now popular Chili Cheese flavor. The best place in SGV to get them was the Orange Jelius in Temple City. The chili was better than most and even made those hot dogs they sold taste good. But in a bowl of fritos that chili with cheese and onions made a great little meal. That place is long gone but my hunger for Peper Bellies lives-on. Anyone know who still offers them?
