Peking Garden

Battistini | Feb 2, 200308:26 AM

I warn you: I tried Peking Garden on University and it was unbelievably poor: fried walleye with a brown sauce that had to be seen and tasted to be believed (I didn't know Chinese people use canned brown gravy), midget soft-shell crabs that were nevertheless expensive, watercress with a shrimp sauce that tasted like contamination rather than real sauce, and tender steak abused by a cloying marinade. This is the biggest disappointment for my wife and I in Twin Cities Chinese restaurants since we arrived, largely due to a menu that has all my indicators of a fine Cantonese restaurant. And the cost, 36 dollars/person, felt like a bite in the butt after that experience!
