Peasant Bistro - [Atlanta]

A quick update: This new downtown bistro on Park Ave West next door to the Embassy Suites and across from Olympic Park is definitely worth a visit!!

My friend and I had lunch there the other day...since we were on our way to the airport and knew good food wouldn't be had for awhile, it really turned into dinner. And it was delicious! She had the special soup, a mussel chowder. She let me took a bite but warned me I would be sorry, that I would wish I had ordered it for myself. And she was right. I had the beet salad; delicious beets and greens with a bit of goat cheese...but the soup was special. We both had the lamb chops for our main.....tender, delicious lamb served over brussel sprouts sauteed with cream and carmelized onions. Oh man, two of my favorite foods: brussel sprouts and lamb. Delicious. We condsidered desert but were already too full.....

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, sunny and pleasant. I understand they've only been open a week or two. Service was wonderful, although admittedly at 2 in the afternoon on a Sunday they weren't very busy so could pay lots of attention to us. But they deserve to do well; I don't have time for a long post but wanted all you Atlantans to think about this place next time you want a nice lunch or dinner downtown. I know I'll be back on one of my business trips to your city. After all, I had a hard time deciding between the lamb and the shrimp and grits, so I have to go back to try that dish....

Lunch for two including tax and tip was not cheap, about 60 bucks. But remember, it was really dinner......
