I worked for a terrific caterer back in the early 80's called The Catering Company run by 3 partners. We worked out of a building on Newark St, NW called Friends for Understanding (? my memory is not what it used to be). Andrea, whom I would consider the chef of the group, had a fantastic peanut sauce for satay.
Does anyone know Andrea or George or the peanut sauce recipe? I lost my copy of it in a house fire years ago and have tried to replicate it with no luck.
It contained hot black tea, red chili paste, peanut butter, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and a few other ingredients I cannot remember.
