[PDX] La Bonita Tamales...

Still on my eternal quest to find the perfect taco. Expect a report some day on about 20-30 taquerias and taco trucks in the Portland Metro area in the not too distant future. (btw, La Iguana Feliz on Sandy east of 205 is still the leader.) Hit La Sirenita yesterday and La Bonita today. I think La Bonita's tacos are slightly better, though slightly more expensive ($1.50 vs. $1.25). For consistency, I always try at least a taco de carnitas and taco de pollo. Both are good, though.

However, man-oh-man does La Bonita make some good tamales. I love tamales. I make very good tamales. I've had them in Mexico and in places known for their tamales in Texas. La Bonita is up there for my tastes. Moist with very flavorful filling. At $1.95, muy muy bueno.

They're on NE Alberta (in the late 20s, I think). Not very convenient for me, living in east Vancouver, working in downtown PDX, but worth a trip on occasion. They're not open on Mondays and Tuesdays, though. They gave me a free taste of their homemade pozole, too. Pretty good.
