PDX: Good Eats Needed

Off to Portland this weekend for a quick getaway. I've traveled to Portland several times and have been to a number of great local restaurants but husband has never been. I'm more of a foodie than he is; he likes good but simple food. I'm scanned the board a bit but haven't found quite what I'm after.

We'll be staying downtown and will be relying on public transportation.

Here's what we're looking for. Good, cheap, what we would term "sloppy" breakfasts--big mess of eggs, potatoes, etc. etc., all washed down with a sublime cup of coffee. (Oatmeal or a fruit plate for me, but I can find that nearly anywhere.)

Lunches: He wants a brewpub. ISO the perfect burger and the perfect pint. I'm happy with a nice salad or a bowl of soup.

Dinner: Torn between Jake's and Ringside for our one big dinner out. What else should I be considering? The Heathman? Something else? Price isn't as much of an issue as location--we'd like to stay central--either a nice walk or a quick cab ride from the Hilton. I wouldn't mind slipping a nice, decadent dessert into the mix, too. (Dinner and dessert can be in different restaurants. In fact, that would be fun.)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
