Found a new gelato place. It's in NW at the corner of 23rd and Lovejoy, across from Kinko's.
They make their own bases according to the people behind the counter and they have all the usual flavors: giandua, hazelnut, dolce di latte, pistaccio, etc. They also do some sorbettos.
Tried lots, and they were happy to oblige. The flavors were generally good. Their textures were mostly nice, though a couple were icy. It's $2.50 for a small which gets you two scoops.
We got giandua, fig, caramel, and vanilla. All were good, though the vanilla was rather icy. It's a good addition, though I wish it was on the far east side so I had a good gelato place close by.
