Patxi's Report

bernalgirl | Dec 19, 2005 08:13 PM

We wanted take out, thought we'd try it. Feh.

Sauce tasted raw and flat, crust was too present and too chewy. Spinach and sausage were spartan. I prefer Zach's.

FWIW, I've had Chicago pizza since my last Zach's post, and I get why all you Chicago-ans despise it. How does Gino's (East? West? we visited on a longer layover from O'Hare) achieve that crisp crust? The pie looked generic when it arrived at our table, but it knocked our socks off with flavor and texture.

I still like Zach's, since that's what I grew up with, but now more than ever I assert that Zach's is a bread casserole masquerading as pizza. It's just a bread casserole I happen to like.
