I am confused on the instructions. I washed the starch off the rice in a separate bowl.
Then I start to add the ingredients, but I'm confused. For four cups of rice, says 4 cups rice, 4.5 cups water, 100ml oil, 1.5 tsp salt.
First off, is the water measured with the rice cup or actual measuring cup? At first I tried to use the rice cup, but there are actual marks inside the device from 2 to 10 cups and four rice cups didn't even hit the 2 cup mark. So I assumed I needed to use the full water cup to hit the 4 cup line inside.
So that is my first question.
Then it says "turn the timer clockwise to the indication which is expected to use" which is a horrible translation, followed by "after the water boils".
So my second question is - do you set the timer to say 60 until the water is actually boiling, THEN add the rice, and then bump the timer back up to 45-60 minutes (depending on how dark you like the tahdig) or what?
Very confusing and doesn't say that you should do that at all.
It also says that once you add the rice, to smooth it...well the rice is about 2 inches below the top of the water, so you can't really smooth it.
Can someone clarify?
