Eek. Just moved to the Slope from the UWS. It knocks the UWS out in terms of beauty but am I missing something? The grocery scene is the pits! I live on 2nd St. between 7th and 8th and I've only been there a week, so I'm hoping there is some gem of a place that I'm missing. Someone suggested Steve's in an earlier post when I was asking about restaurants, but I can't seem to find it. Not to mention the biggest disappointment of all -- nothing costs less than in Manhattan and some things are more expensive!! The produce, dairy and eggs at the bodegas are usually more expensive and so far, the produce hasn't been so fresh. I've heard good things about the co-op and I'm going to check it out this weekend, but cheap groceries aren't so cheap when you have to work to earn them. I've got the feeling I'm missing something, so please let me know the best places to go. I've already written a pathetic email to Fresh Direct begging them to open up to Park Slope, but in the meantime, I gotta eat!!
