Pangea (KC)

We had dinner last night at Pangea, on 39th Street slightly east of "restaurant row" and Valentine Road. It truly feels like a great college town restaurant. Counter ordering system, good lighting, wine and good selection of import beers. Run by former Piropos' staffers. All the food we had was well prepared with no hint of any fast food overtones. We shared several dishes (I failed to get a menu so forgive my descriptions)a spanish tort, a feta-based dish with the best Stroud's-like home fries, a panini sandwich and the Beef and Guiness pie (very light & fresh puff pastry). The food was terrific. KC Chowhounds need to support this place! If Relish had occupied this space it might have made it.
