So it's getting to be that time of year when I am craving sweet and fruity and spiced concoctions. Have already eaten the first of many mince pies, and I'm making fruitcake as we speak. But what I'm really wanting, right now, is panforte. Sienese Italian fruitcake, more candy than cake, and absolutely heavenly. I know Buon Italia in the city sells imported panforte, but does anyone have a source for fresh panforte in the city? When I was in Italy a couple of years ago for Christmas it was all over, and each bakery had their own way of making it -- soo good! Any tips?
