Pan Dulce in SF

nja | Apr 17, 2003 11:54 AM

Can anyone recommend a place I can find good pan dulce in SF?

My latina girlfriend is desperate to find a local source that will at least come close to the killer bakery in her hometown.* I've made a few attempts with places on Mission Street but have been terribly disappointed with them all. She's threatening to make me drive to Sacramento on Saturday mornings if we don't find any good stuff in SF!

I found a brief mention of La Victoria in an old message, so I'll try them soon. Any other places I should try?

A plus would be place that also serves Mexican hot chocolate... but that's secondary to good pan dulce.

Thanks!

*La Esperanza at 5044 Franklin Street in Sacramento. This place is really, really good. Her family claims to have tried every panaderia in Sac and swears this is by far the best around.
