Palomino - nice surprise

Zoe | Dec 9, 2005 08:19 AM

Friend invited Madame Z and me for Christmas drinks to Palomino last night. First visit ever despite living two blocks away.

Delightful atmosphere - charming bar filled with clubby furniture (comfortable) - lots of people but attentive waitperson who described the feature of the bar - half price appetizers (about 20 varieties) between 5 and 8 daily. Noise level high but not impossible to hold a conversation (good acoustics and high ceilings must have helped) but the atmosphere was so festive and warm.

Then went to the dining room - again an inviting space, excellent service and a waiter who did not sniff because after eating pizza and heaps of mussels, we only wanted to split salads for dinner plus a jumbo dish of really good cherry/apple cobbler.
Prompt valet service too. Patrick our waiter gave us two for one dinner coupons for January and February to ensure our return! We'll be back.
