While checking out Palo Alto Baking Company on California and the Polish Deli on Cambridge, I though I would cruise down Park Blvd too see if the second company I worked for in California was still there (it was).
I saw a lot to turn around and reverse my direction and it just happened to have a bakery in it. Well, any dieting I was doing had been shot anyway, so I stopped in.
This eclectic bakery, to say the least, has been in Palo Alto for over 14 years and at it's present location for a few months (rent issues).
The hours kind of sum it up 9 - 6 or whenever. The sign says that. No phone number and no business card.
When I ask for the address to be written down, the guy goes outside and looks at the front of the building.
There is no product list because I was told that it was up to what the baker felt like doing that day.
The brownie samples were really, really good. Rich, chocolaty and moist with bits of chocolate ($2.50)
They have some rustic breads. I bought a small seeded nine grain. Normally I would not have liked this bread. The texture was a little cake like and crumbly. HOWEVER, I had some liverwurst and this bread was just perfect for that smooth wurst and the combination of the two made one fine sandwich
They also have live music and open mike ... hence the name. Guitars and musical instruments hang from the storage locker type building.
