There is a lovely little Mexican place directly opposite REI (and the chain Mexican restaurant Chipotle) on San Pablo Avenue just south of Gilman in Berkeley/Oakland. The menu is the absolute basic - burritos, tacos, flautas, salads, with some good Mexican soft drinks. There are seven or eight tables inside, in a plain but pleasant room. Outdoors, though, is a pretty, sunny little patio with another six or seven tables - a great place to sit when the weather is warm.

What makes this place chowhoundish is the quality of the food - bright, fresh, nothing over- or undercooked. It's so nice to see Mexican non-fast food like this...
