Spanish/Tapas place on 31st St and 34th Avenue in Astoria (El Boqueron) knows how to cook seafood. I haven't had such tender calamari, scallops etc in awhile. This is a rare thing at Spanish Restuarants in NYC. que no? I always get overcooked paella and it's damn frustrating!!
Unfortunately, from what I can tell, they don't really know much from seasoning. The Paella Valenciana was kind of bland. I think all it needed was some ajo or something -- but it was dissapointing.
But I wrapped it up and took it home and I have to say ... the next day for lunch was an absolute treat. added some garlic and some kickin hot sauce. yumm.
So nice to not have overcooked seafood.
