I remember a few posters early this year, wanting to know what was going to happen to the Pacific Market space located in Gardena, and was a good resource for Asian foods which closed after 30 + years. Well...
I was in Gardena the other night for sushi at Tsukiji and happened to drive through the Pacific Square. Pacific Market had a "GRAND OPENING" banner hanging on the building. So I went inside - redesigned floor plan, updated look, nice array of high quality fresh produce and Asian food products.
I LOVED that they had HAWAIIAN STYLE PORTUGUESE SAUSAGES (all flown in from Hawaii - at least 10+ choices from all over the islands, found the 2 brands that I like from Hilo, Franks Foods and Miko), a nice frozen selection of Lau-Lau, Kalua Pork, Saimin etc.
Beautiful cuts of meat for Sukiyaki, Shabu-Shabu, etc. I barely had time to glance over their fish and seafood options... Nice selection of staple Asian products (noodles, teas, cookies, crackers, spices, seaweeds, etc.)
GONE is the Hot Lunch counter that the original Pacific Market used to have in the back.
NOTE: This Marukai Market AT Pacific Square - does not require membership - unlike the flagship on the corner of Western and Artesia. It has a nice neighborhood feel. I hope it makes it.
