My electric oven is the most horribly inconsistent object I've ever encountered. I thought that I had become a worthless cook until someone clued me in on the situation. It runs 50-100 degrees hotter than it says on the dial, but it's not consistent. After 30 minutes or so it goes up or down. I borrowed a thermometer for a bit and figured all this out.
I'd like to get an oven thermometer that I can leave in there an the shelf to read through the window. Any recommendations? Will a cheaper grocery store model work, or do I will I only be getting what I paid for (ie a cheap, inaccurate device)? Thanks. C-
