Osaka Review- Short

ChrisZ | Jul 18, 2004 11:36 AM

Needing a quick and lite bite for dinner I wandered over to Osaka on court street last night for a couple pieces of sushi and a roll.

Miso Soup- Average, nothing to write home about as is typical with the majority of Miso Soup.

Roll- decided to try the Mexican Roll(hey I'm from Texas). Pretty much a spicy tuna roll with not much more of a kick. They should put a jalepeno in it or something. Roll was prepared well, a decent size, had a good texture/ mouth feel. The only thing it lacked was flavor.

Sushi- Kept it simple. A few pieces of Salmon and a few pieces of Tuna. The sushi chefs displayed very poor knife skills. Bothe pieces of fish were poorly cut and cut way to big. The best way to describe it was the rice probably sat underneath about 20% of the fish. Presentation seemed more like chum than sushi. Very hard to handle. Fish seemed fresh and had a decent flavor

Service- Sushi bar was not very talkative and rather slow moving. Hostess was nice and waitstaff was average.

Overall- There is better sushi in Minneapolis and in the rest of NY. I just have to find it.
