Just ordered a dehydrator!

I have wanted one of these things forever!

A few years ago, my best friend's dh, was tearing it up making some kickin' spicy, hot beef and turkey jerky. It was dried but tender and his marinade is really good.
He uses a standard, pretty simple (just plug it in) and inexpensive dehydrator; it's round with a couple or maybe 3 trays.

He has found the key to good jerky, its the marinade and knowing proper timing and temperatures for the dehydration. Whatever his secrets, all I know is that he did a fantastic job he produced some mighty fine jerky that will run circles around any of the packaged stuff.

Good jerky if you haven't done the math is more expensive than lobster! We bought some from a little boutique (homemade) that was selling for around $18 a pound, and we purchased about 10oz!!!

What I'd like to know is this. Does anyone else own one, and what other things can and do you dry in there. Tomatoes? Fruit? Veggies?
