What will be open in Rome on Ferragosto?

vvv03 | Jun 16, 201908:02 PM     3

Our family will be in Rome the week of Ferragosto. The timing is unfortunate, but the cost of the plane ticket made it too good to refuse, so now I'm doing some research to find the best places to eat/things to do during that week and on Thursday, August 15 in particular. I've been to Rome in August before, and there are some places that are closed, but it's never been a big deal because there are still so many options. But I'm really worried about the week we will be there. is everything closed down the entire week? Are there any decent restaurants and cafes that will be open? I love to cook and I love to cook in Italy in particular (we will be renting an apartment), so I can prepare a day or two in advance and we can have dinner at home, but just wondering what the day is like otherwise. Any suggestions on things to do, places to eat, will it be impossible to find a caffe in the morning, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
