Onion rings in Houston

Okay, let's try this for Houston.

1. Tookies, on 146 in Seabrook. Very good thick cut onion rings - the only reason I'll hassle with all the traffic.

2. Jax Grill, N. Shepherd just south of I-10. Ah, my salvation. The equal of Tookies, perhaps even better. Plus better better burgers and fries. The other location on Rice at Bissonet in Bellaire doesn't do nearly as good a job on any of the same items.

3. Prince's - okay, I have to give 'em some credit for trying, but they really seem to be without a clue about how to get the batter to stick to the onions (SW Fwy location).

4. Most disappointing - beer battered onions rings at Lyndon's Pit BBQ on 290 at Hollister. These things are awesome to behold and are huge - a side order nets you only 3 for $1.40 - but are suprisingly very bland; having eaten there many times I've seen lots of people go off and leave lots of 'em uneaten on their tables. A full order, I think, is like $7 or something.

If you post, please indicate whether the place serves thin, medium or thick cut - I have a preference for thick cut. Thanks.
