Delicious start to the weekend with Wellfleet oysters and Six Point Diesel stout at Redbones: Fridays in March only (and or before Easter, I'm not sure--it's a nod Lent) Dozen for $18; shucked clams available too.
Finally made it to Kickass Cupcakes. Had a peppermint and a Sam Adams stout each @ $2.75. They are still small and still 1/2 frosting 1/2 cake (which I usually like :) However, the peppermint flavor was only in the frosting and it was menthol-y with a chemically aftertaste. Cupcake was soft but dry--I'm sure some people do like that texture. I had split each cupcake into four pieces and my DC and I didn't even want to bother finishing them (!!!)
(When Pigs Fly seeded bread from next door tho, was great)
Olecito: tacos are $2.75 (chicken [I think they were out of fish], pork, poblano, steak), tortas range ~$6 with a cheese and poblano for vegetarians. Burritos and quesadillas were ~$4.50 with options of doubling the meat for $1. Chips and guac for $3.50. A range of mexican sodas, as well as Coke.
I had the grilled veggie burrito made very spicy (it was the perfect amount of hot): black beans, rice, queso, salsa etc. It was as big as Anna's but much more tasty with grilled zuc, summer squash, carrots, and poblano.
Cash only at Olecito!
DC had the pork torta and declared it the best in Boston (but nothing can compete with the trucks in New Haven across from Ikea).
