Oleana: thanks, chowhounds!

Have been reading the board for a few weeks and noticed lots of accolades for Oleana, espec. as regards vegetarian food. Had never heard of it before!

Took a friend for her birthday last night and we each got the vegetarian tasting menu. It was amazingly good. Might have been my favorite meal ever in Boston, though I am indeed a vegetarian.

5 courses plus dessert. So generous to serve different plates to each of us for every course; we shared it all so got to try 12 different dishes. (More even, because one or two of the courses had multiple items on each plate.) We were close to painfully full at the end of it--the busboy was laughing as we finished less and less of each progressive course.

My faves were the spicy carrot puree with european spice mix, the salad with yogurt dressing, and the ridiculously good falafel. Desserts, too, were creative and delicious: sticky toffee pudding and palace bread. Every dish was intricate but not fussy. What a great, warm, friendly, sumptuously good place for a special occasion.
