"Okinawan doughnuts" at Miyabi-tei, San Jose

Melanie Wong | Sep 6, 200502:41 AM

Miyabi-tei had a banner above the cashier for Okinawan doughnuts, $3. These were prepacked six to a ziplock. My first encouter with these, also known as andagi, I'm sure they would be better fresh out of the fryer. In any case, I was surprised at how heavy and dense these small balls were. A nice crunch on the outside and medium sweet, these were plain without any sugar coating and not too greasy.

From this taste, these haven't become a craved thing for me. But for those who are looking for them, you can find them here. I noticed that the cashier put the money I paid in a separate jar and not in the restaurant's cash box.
