Odd request for Gary Danko info

Gary Soup | May 12, 200301:00 PM     2

My sister and her husband will be visiting SF next week (first time for him). They (as am I) are from the same small town as Gary Danko and have an unusual connection -- my brother-in-law's oldest daughter was GD's prom date in high school. They'll be staying at the Wharf, and I thought it might be a hoot for them to drop by GDs for a look. Due to budgetary considerations (he's a retiree) and a resolutely proletarian spirit, I doubt if they are inclined to drop close to three figures per person for a single meal, especially since they may not know arugula from Arby's. (Just kidding, Martha!)

My questions are:

1) Does GD have a bar? (I think it's been mentioned as a good place for dining alone.)

2) Is it possible/acceptable to stop at the bar for a drink (and perhaps an appetizer) without staying for a full meal (say mid-week early on-ish, not at peak dinner time)?

3) Dress code? (I'll tell Tom not to wear his shorts!)

Thanks
