It's a HK-styled cafe, has anyone gone? Upon recommendations of our neighbour, Mom and I went to go try them. Our neighbour says it's soooooooooooooooo cheap and good bang for the buck that Mom was sooooo convinced.
It's a small little place. Decor not the best, and there are 2 big screen tv's for you to watch the news.
I ordered the big round noodle ("silver needle noodle," translation from Chinese), but they didnt have it. So I went for the Hainan chicken rice. From other posts, you can tell that I loooove this dish. Mom ordered her classic favourite baked pork chop rice in tomato sauce.
I knew not to expect the best hainan chicken here. Come on, it's a diner. But when it came (in less than 5 minutes after ordering), I was kind of surprised. The rice, although it looked flavoured and coloured to perfection, tasted nothing. No chicken flavour whatsoever. The chicken itself? No chicken flavour whatsoever!!! It was as bland as cardboard. And it was sooooooooooooo fatty too. I cant believe I ate more than half of it, really. The sauces (which I love the most about hainan chicken) were bland too!
The baked pork chop rice - came in like 6 or 7 minutes. So, what was there to bake, really? I dont know .. the casserole wasn't even hot to the touch. They used the same rice that was served to me for the hainan chicken, and then ladled sauce on it. But, there's cheese on top, and I dig that. The porkchop, ... tho very tender, it's not the best that I've eaten.
Meh. We'll try it once more. The neighbour says to try the satay tendon fried noodles, .. maybe it's good for only that dish?
