I apologize for the tardiness of this report. Plenty of you know that I have this looming deadline. In fact, I am going to run through this report, just getting the basic stuff down. I will try later in the week to add some narrative, nice picture and relevant link.
Change of season report: Nichols was snatching the last of their tomatoes off their vines in advance of any frost. Tomatoes were mostly green or mushy. All of a sudden, I am craving tomato dishes and they are about gone. The Farm finally ran out of sweet corn.
Apples picked: wealthy, stark delicous (what a name!), akane (ultra-red), ida red
Odd fruit spotted: quinces (at Skibbes)
Radish report: Nicholes had standard red as well as a tiny black
Vague Celt update: honey's fresh and dried, still more Dryades Saddle
Dominant color: green - plenty of green beans, second planting snow peas, G&G, which I generally disparage for supermarket quality produce had dandelion greens that looked awesome. Green pears, green niagra grapes, etc.
Color contrast: pink and white "shelly" beans at Nichols
Donut: Not so good. One of those ill-temperatured batches, producing a grease laden circle.
See you next week.
