I'm visiting some friends out west and want to bring them something edible that's very NY--and that will withstand a 6-hour flight and a day or two in-between purchase and gifting. Initially I thought of one of the honeys from the new Blue Ribbon market, but what else would work? Babka will self-destruct in the airplane overhead. I also thought about Jacques Torres chocolates but they might get damaged/melt in transit.
Preference given to gifts that can be purchased below, say, 23rd St.
Many thanks in advance!
