as the title says, coming to california from nyc for a long weekend (wednesday - sunday). we're flying into san francisco and staying in at the solage calistoga for 2 nights and then driving down the pacific coast highway, staying at the big sur lodge on friday night and then down to LA for a birthday party on saturday (don't really need advice in LA cause we're staying with family and they have the weekend planned). we just want to maximize our trip.
i've been searching the board but would love some additional recommendations for food/wineries up in napa and some good road food to pick up on the way down to big sur and LA. we have a reservation thursday night at ubuntu and were planning to pick up some breakfast at bouchon bakery and then hitting the road. not positive about wineries, but the concierge suggested august briggs and larkme lane (?). we'd like to stay in calistoga for the morning and then head into the rest of napa in the afternoon.
any recs for small wines that i certainly won't find back east? any places we should definitely stop on our trip down the coast? we thought about eating at the big sur bakery for dinner and maybe grabbing some tacos in santa barbara but not positive. we'll eat anything, from awesome greasy cheeseburgers (like shake shack in nyc) to fancy.
thanks for the help!
